in #health6 years ago

The high levels of fat or high cholesterol in our blood represents for our organism a silent killer. The alarm signals occur when the disease is too advanced and it becomes difficult to control it.

Cholesterol is produced in the liver and is important for the formation of cell membranes. Vitamin D and some hormones.

Cholesterol is transported through the bloodstream by special particles called lipoproteins.

High density lipoproteins (HDL) are the good cholesterol. They return the bad cholesterol to the liver so that it eliminates it.

Low-density lipoproteins (LDL) are the bad cholesterol, they can clog the arteries and cause heart attacks or strokes.

A high level of bad cholesterol can clog the blood vessels with fat deposits. Hindering the passage of blood through the arteries, causing serious damage to the heart and brain.
