How many of us have had the intention of being productive when we sit down to do work and the next thing we know, we are watching the latest episode of a show? Don’t fret, procrastination this happens to most people. Procrastination can be overruled by productivity if there is a clear motive for action, a clear vision, definiteness of purpose and a valued self-image. What people may not think about is the ease of your concentration for your efforts relies on the state of hormones and health. Today, we will explore how productivity and even success is connected to testosterone levels.

Low levels of testosterone may create mental fog, lethargy, and poor mental performance. There was a study that examined how age and serum free testosterone levels may predict cognitive status and memory performance in elderly men. It is unclear if young men with low testosterone levels are also affected. It is safe to consider the possibility that suboptimal mental performance and cognitive factors may also affect young men with low testosterone levels.

The study showed that higher scores for verbal memory, visuospatial capacity and less decline with visual memory in senior men classified as having higher free testosterone levels. Significantly lower scores for verbal memory, visuospatial ability and a significant reduction in visual memory in senior men classified as having low testosterone levels. A beneficial relationship is suggested between mental performance and testosterone levels as the study summarized.

Aside from physiological benefits, testosterone has a hand in the way a man feels. Testosterone levels may change if one feels successful & productive versus feeling unsuccessful & deflated. Consider the New York Stock Exchange floor, it has been noticed that traders that had above average profits had higher testosterone levels. One trader in the study had a six-day money streak and experienced a 78% higher testosterone levels when compared to the average of his peers. Winning & success in any shape or form of competition has deep underlying connections to raising testosterone levels.

Napoleon Hill’s famous book “Think & Grow Rich” has a chapter called “The Mystery of Sex Transmutation – the tenth step toward riches”. Napoleon Hill had researched & interviewed the top 500 millionaires and leaders in America and discovered a trend. Napoleon Hill explains how most 20th-century successful men of great achievement had a high sexual appetite. Napoleon says “highly sexed people always have a plentiful supply of magnetism”. His observation of “more than 30,000 salespeople, made the astounding discovery that highly sexed men are the most efficient salesmen.” His insight for his readers is elegantly spoken as “if you don't wish to rely on biographies of successes not living, take inventory of those who you know to be men of great achievement and see if you can find one among them who is not highly sexed.”

Most people are habitual in their lives because of the feeling of comfort. Napoleon Hill’s successful people have cultivated their success from veering away from comfort and embracing discomfort. Those successful men were not considered consumers, most people today are just consumers. To be successful, one embraces what makes them feel discomfort concerning investing in yourself. Invest in yourself, first and foremost, before the habitual comfort is drawn again. Our modern society has formed our culture to consume before self-Investment. Think about the successful ones you hear about or even know, they invest in themselves before they consume. Once they have self-invested, they can afford to consume what they choose since they have paved the way in reach their goal. Successful people are not consumers primarily, they aren’t seeking consumption for comfort, which many other people do through buying things or food. Successful people would rather be happier first producing & providing, which is far more uncomfortable than only consuming.

In resistance training, exercising or weight lifting we know these activities to increase testosterone levels. To invoke a significant hormonal response, the body is pushed past comfort into an adaptive state. In this new adaptive state, the body is in a new territory of discomfort, and the body slightly changes, something “new” is produced. As testosterone levels increase so does a man’s confidence level, and this begins a positive loop. The confidence brings better mental performance, better mental performance brings you success & confidence. This positive feedback loop is incredible because it feeds its self once a person makes the decision to be a producer first rather than being a consumer first.

We probably already know that high testosterone & high sex drive go together. We also know it doesn’t only take high testosterone to make a man successful if that were the case any guy could be a huge success. If a man were caring, smart, and creative but only lacked that special something, that drive, then raising that man’s natural testosterone levels may be just what it takes to get them to believe in themselves and their efforts a little bit more.

Practice the fundamentals that were shared in this series, build your testosterone levels slowly and start exploring outside of your comfort zone. Embrace discomfort for a change and avoid heading towards comfort and soon you will experience growth that would even surprise you.
