the researchers were trying to keep aggressive cancer cells alive in the lab.

in order to do that, they exposed them to different types of transcription factors
transcription factors are proteins needed to facilitate and regulate DNA transcription.
surprisingly,a certain transcription factor managed to convert cells into harmless macrophages which also have the ability to fight cancer.
could lead to new kind of cancer treatment called differentiation therapy
researchers hope to develop a drug that can facilitate this conversion inside body.
