Talcum powder as bad as asbestos? WTF
Ok so maybe not as bad. But it’s still really bad.
Who didn’t use talcum powder when they were a kid? And who didn’t enjoy the smell of that white fluffy stuff after your evening bath?
I listened to a talk by our local Doctor tonight. And one of the things that he discussed really shocked me. So I did a little reading and, funnily enough, the Doc was right.
Talc is a mineral. Just like asbestos. And the particles of talc are similar to asbestos in that they contain barbs, so when you inhale them, the particles stay lodged in your lungs and can’t be removed. If you use talcum powder over a lengthy period of time, and the stuff keeps building up in your lungs, then surprise, surprise, you have reduced lung capacity and start sounding like a smoker.
And if the talc gets lodged in some of your sensitive regions, it can also stay there and cause problems in the future.
The short of it is, since it’s late and I’m tired, Talc isn’t as nice as I thought it was. And it shouldn’t go anywhere near a baby or child.
So if you have some talcum powder in the house. Perhaps get rid of it. That stuff is not for the breathing. Or the bathing for that matter.

so we get to know this after using it for lifetime , just imagine the stuff we are consuming today , what all is toxic that we use on a daily basis.
Non stick fry pans
Round up pesticide
Fertilizers
we sure have fucked up the supply chain for human consumption real good !!

It comes from this broad mentality that our natural state is broken and strange and wrong and needs to be fixed.
Heavens forbid a baby might smell like a baby.
The weirdest thing is that a simple look at the particle would show the dangers. Wonder why it took so long to notice.

The way things are going, @mazzle, we will be back to eating off of leaves only things we've personally roasted over a fire made purely of underbrush, twigs and branches, wear clothes we skinned a wild animal for, and only putting into our bodies what we foraged.
I'm not very happy about that, by the way. I think advancements should be just that— a step forward, not a biohazard. I'm not sure how it works in the rest of the world, but the FDA here isn't supposed to go around approving stuff that is hazardous to our health! What's the purpose of the FDA, then?
Anyway, I can't remember the last time I used talcum powder on anyone, including me, so maybe I'm safe? I did have an X-ray of my lungs once and they discovered some scar tissue on one of them. Could that be it? :)
But open fires are bad for your health. :P
Talcum powder has been around since something like 1844 though. So I suppose no one really considered it worth checking on since it was such a family staple for so long.
I doubt the FDA was a thing back then too.
We are in scary times. I can’t even use the round up that’s in my shed now. Hand pulling weeds is the new trend...
