Bitten by a CAT//Can be Very Serious
I was just bitten by a stray cat that I was feeding two days ago. It really wasn't the cats fault. She was just being defensive when my left foot scared her. I was waring cogs and got bit on the exposed left heal. It was 6:30 in the morning and decided to treat it myself. That was a mistake. Figuring hydrogen peroxide and bacitracin would fix me up. Come the afternoon it started to get sore. So I went on the computer to check out CAT BITES....After reading this....https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/wounds-cat-bite-injuries-to-humans I when straight to my walk in clinic. After waiting for about an hour I was given a tetanus shot and asked if I wanted a rabies shot. I declined the rabies shot, hope that was a smart decision. Anyway they gave me a prescription for the infection. This medication must be taken with meals so it was twelve hours before the first pill. By that time my heal and ankle looked like a tomato, puffy and red. Now I wear boots when I feed little miss tiger.
That looks like a nasty bite and tiger is a good name for her. You take care of yourself. Is she pregnant?
I thought she was pregnant but now I think she is nursing. Not sure I only play a Vet on Tv.lol
Probably a wise idea.
Cat bites can be very nasty and difficult to treat. I recommend you get a follow-up appointment with your regular doctor. If you do not know the vaccination history of the cat, then for your own safety a rabies vaccination is recommended.
Thanks Doc... It's much better, but I will take your advice.
