How To Hide The Effects Of Aging

in #health6 years ago

Getting older opens you up to a world of stereotypes. Who hasn't seen a movie in which a little old lady is so deaf that she has to shout, or an old man who refuses to wear a hearing aid? Many older people are living full and happy lives. These tips will help you stay focused on the important things in life.

Here's a quick way to slow down the aging process; quit smoking. If you are a smoker you've heard it all your life, but it's just as true now. Smoking is a huge contributor to how old your skin looks. Plus it also reduces your life span as well. It is never to late to quit, so talk with your doctor about steps to take to put out the butts for good.

Add vitamin D supplements to your diet to possibly helping slow aging. There is not a consensus yet on the research that shows it's affect. However, vitamin D has other benefits like helping our immune systems, helping the absorption of calcium and others that you might as well add it in even if the jury is still out on the aging affects.

Take the time to be grateful for the things that you have in your life. Each day before you get out of bed, stop and think about at least five things that you are thankful for. This can be your heath, family, friends or any other little thing that you appreciate in life.

Stay active during the aging process. Staying active helps your body, mind, and soul. It will help you to age gracefully. Many studies also show that remaining active can have a positive effect on your mental capacity, and may help to keep diseases like Alzheimer's at bay. Try to include activity as part of your daily routine.

Oral health is essential to a long life. Even if you do not have teeth anymore, it is still important to go and have regular exams at the dentist so he can check your gums. You can still develop gum disease, oral cancer and other things that can lead to other health problems.

To age gracefully, remember to include safety into your life. By putting safety first, you increase your odds of living longer. You will also be a living example to your children and grandchildren that safety matters. Always wear your seat belt when traveling in a car. Wear a helmet when riding your bike. Use smoke detectors in your house and change its batteries regularly. By just using common sense, you can reduce the risk of accidents, which could injure your body or even cause death.

Make sure you're getting enough sleep at night. The time you spend asleep is when your body relaxes and handles any problems that it needs to fix. You should be getting around seven to nine hours of sleep each night. This will leave you feeling rested and give your body a chance to recuperate from the previous day.

Start to exercise with weights. As you age, you start to lose your muscle density, so you have to make the most out of the muscle you have left. Get into a routine of weight-lifting a few times a week so that you can stay strong even as you go into your later years.

Be independent. It might be easier to start to let others do things for you, but to stay vibrant, maintain your sense of independence and your ability to do things for yourself as you get older. Not only will it keep you busy, but you stay strong as you do things for yourself.

Try to eat a healthy diet. By eating a well-balanced diet made up of lots fruits, vegetables, fiber and whole grain and low in trans-fat, cholesterol and saturated fat, you will be providing your body with all the essential nutrients it needs to maintain optimum health and fight off infections and disease.

Eat well and healthily. Eating lots of fruits, vegetables, and whole wheats can help you against signs of aging and keep your body strong and protected. Also, drink a lot of water, up to eight glases a day. Finally, you should try to watch the amount of fat you eat. Keep the daily calories you get from fat under 35% and it should help you keep your body shape.

If you have not already done so as you age, start reducing stress now. High stress levels are not healthy and get ever more unhealthy as a body ages. Aging bodies will not be able to rebound quickly from stressful events and can elevate symptoms of menopause and other common aging issues.

Instead of feeling down, this time in your life should be used to enjoy yourself. If you follow these guidelines and take control of your body and your lifestyle, you can ensure that your golden years are the time of your life.

Have a great day!
