Natural Treatment of Fatty Liver

Although fat in the liver is actually normal, too much is health risky.

When the livers fat content reaches over 5% it is considered a fatty liver as well as disease. A fatty liver can occur from excessive alcohol intake and is called "alcoholic fatty liver disease". However fatty liver is not exclusively for drinkers, that is called non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and could be due to a diet high in fats and carbs, due to diabetes or physical inactivity.

Symptoms such as nausea, fatigue, discomfort, and an overall feeling of being sick, as the disease also makes the liver more susceptible injuries, inflammation, and scarring. But fortunately, fatty liver disease is reversible and generally only requires a healthy lifestyle change.

Here are some ideas that can help the individual reverse this problem:

  • Apple cider vinegar – helps by reducing the fat accumulation in the liver and thereby promoting weight loss as it enhances healthy liver function and decreasing inflammation. Just add a tablespoon to warm water and drink twice daily before meals.

  • Green tea – Its high-density catechin (Antioxident) enhance liver functioning and prevents fat accumulation. It also inhibits the amount of fats from being stored in the liver. Just by drinking three to four cups of green tea on a regular basis can help you manage a fatty liver disease.

  • Lemon – Rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, can also help the liver produce glutathione (antioxident), which helps neutralize liver toxins. In turn and promote detoxification. To use, squeeze a lemon in a glass of water (or mix with Apple Cider Vinegar drink) and drink it twice a day for a few weeks before meals.

  • Turmeric – a spice rich in antioxidants, enhances the body’s ability to digest fats and prevent its accumulation in the liver. Just add 1/8 teaspoon of turmeric to your apple cider and lemon water drink just before meals. Turmeric is also a great antioxidant that reduces inflammation as well.

  • Papaya – Both the pulp and seeds of this fruit can burn dietary fats, (one of the primary causes of fatty liver disease). So for desert... eat a slice of papaya every day or you can also drink a mixture of ground papaya seeds and water.
