Eye Health

Sorry for the creepy picture...

The eyes are under siege.... yes with computers, phones and eye-wear, the average person is incrementally weakening their eyes.

But there are certain things you can do to exercise and offset some of these issues.

First and foremost get ff the computer or phone and relax them a bit each hour.  Your eye muscles constrict when you read or look at close objects, especially with incoming light.  They relax when they look into the distance or less light is incoming.

So if you are in a constricted condition for long time periods the eyes will strain, you need to work them just like tyou work your body muscles.  So we need to change range, motion and exercise our ciliary muscle (which controls the expansion or constriction of the eyes lens..

Glasses can weaken the eyes as well as they become more dependent and lazy so to say.  You need to go outside and take off the glasses, focus on distant objects to relax or close at say, flowers to constrict.  Look all around with your eyes to maintain good range of motion as opposed to a single focal point and range of a screen.

Some other things to help are Blinking, which keep the eyes cleansed and fresh.  The darkness helps relax the eyes as well as the pupil dilates... even brief blinks will help.

Place your palms on your eyes (I know you already instinctively do this), but do it more as it lowers your blood pressure which is beneficial for over constriction and strain.

Focusing exercises that develop the rapid change of near to far sight.  You can do this in minutes.  Hold somethingup in front of you about a foot or closer away.  Focus on it then switch to something 15 feet in front of you, change periodically like for one breath each range.

I had a lazy eye as a kid and I used to do this exercise daily and it worked perfectly (doctor recommended exercise, when doctors used to do stuff like that instead of recommend prescription, glasses or pills).

Also the diet can help, make sure you get some essential nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids (fish or fish oil), luetin (green veggies but also fruits), Vitamin C, A and Zinc.

In the Ba Duan Jin exercise ( https://steemit.com/health/@kyusho/ba-duan-jin-qigong) there is a piece called staring for a thousand miles... They new this way back then!

Now that you read this, take a break and look to a new horizon... in the distance.

I use glasses since childhood. A few years ago I attended to a workshop on natural sight improvement. It was all about eye exercises and learning to relax the muscles related to the eyes. My myopia used to increase a little every 2 or 3 years and that just stopped. In the last two visits to the ophthalmologist I found out my myopia is getting better.
I still need my glasses in a daily basis and I don't walk around much without them, which makes me think that I could be recovering even faster.
I usually do some exercises and try to use pinhole glasses at home for a while each day.
These are the reasons why I loved this article! I can relate to it very easily.

People have more control over their health than they think... just getting them to beleive in themselves is the hard part. Congrats on your growing success @rmach

Agreed! I think also that a huge obstacle people face today with regards to taking control of their health is the dynamic of our society nowadays. We are so CONNECTED that we are becoming DIS-CONNECTED. Bombarded by emails, texts, cellular calls, social media etc. Living a reactive state of being. People will come across great information such as this article and truly appreciate and learn from it but may have difficulty applying the new found knowledge due to the RE-ACTIVE life we lead. The key is scheduling. On that note, I’m scheduled for my daily walk around my property thus will be applying the recommendations of this article. Thank you @kyusho :)

Glad to see you active @slynch here now.

I see people moving more toward self health maintenance, but as in any venture it will always be a small portion of the populace.

yes I agree completely that people have a lot more say in their health!

@natureofbeing, I believe the awakening of the people in this has become a worldwide phenomenon. Look at all the countries banning GMO, look at the fact that people even know about it now. The future is brighter and health awareness and natural processes will only grow. Thanks for the comment.

cheers to that!!

Especially this information is important for steemers. Thank you! Gone for a break)

Thank you @sonyanka more breaks will be forth coming in the next article or so.
