The Fallacies

Myth: Exercise Strengthens the Body

No... Exercise actually stresses and breaks the body down... it is built back and adapts in the recovery period. I bring this up as most people focus entirely on the exercise or breakdown period and do not help or allow their bodies to fully recover and strengthen.

How long it takes your body to recover is a determinant of how healthy you really are, as a non healthy person requires far more recovery time than does a healthy individual.

Myth: Exercise Burns Fat Off

So many believe that fat melts off the body the more you exercise.... but fat is not burned off in exercise, but rather in the recovery stage. It also is determined by the body type and hormonal balance the individual has, not on how much exercise you do. As an example an adrenal body type is in stress already (possibly constant), to stress the body further will not help them loose weight and it may even promote more weight gain.

Myth: Everyone Can Benefit From The Same Exercises

And different body types react differently to exercise, it is highly individualistic. In fact there are so many that quit working out as they see no change in their bodies and believe the exercise is not working. This is due to their improper exercise for them as well as care during recovery. It is not the amount of effort in the breakdown exercises... it is again in the recovery stage.

Recovery

Disclaimer: Before any exercise, diet or other body changing process, consult with your physician. They will better understand your individual condition and need.

To Recover the body needs to release all stress... for the body to heal itself and gain strength.

One way to accomplish faster recovery is to eliminate stress prior to exercise. This can be accomplished via many processes, all again geared to the individual.

Example Stress Reduction Methods

  • Rest
  • Mediation
  • Mild Stretching
  • Massage
  • Acupuncture/Acupressure

Recovery has many facets, but a couple primary ones are heart rate normalizing, nerve response normalization, muscle relaxation, etc.. Some folks recovery quickly as a natural body reaction, most of us will need to work the recovery process more to release that stress before, during and after exercise.

The brain and the nerve system work hard to exercise and fatigue also occurs in this system, not just the muscles. SO removing these stresses is vital, before and after exercise.

Work smart... not hard.

Good post, short and simple.

I'm looking forward to people learning this and actually training properly

Work smart... not hard.

This is more of an alert than a long article... we can search our own answers as we work to understand, but if we do not know of what to work, we are no better off. Thanks for the comment @j3dy
