A Coke Light in water, floats but a common Coca-Cola sinks. Why?

Coca-Cola is the most commercialized effervescent soda in the world. Its origin is found in pharmacology as a simple medicine, but at present there are many variants of this drink, including Coca Light . Did you know that if you submerge two cans of Coca Cola , one common and one light, in a container with water, the first one sinks, while the second fleet?

The history of Coca Cola
The Coca Cola is also known as Coke and is produced by The Coca Cola Company . It emerged thanks to the invention of the pharmacist John Pemberton, who patented it as medicine, although later the great visionary Asa Griggs Candler acquired it to transform it into one of the most required drinks in the 20th century.
In truth what is produced is a kind of Coca Cola concentrate , which is then marketed to different registered bottling companies , which add sweeteners and filtered water. It is then sold and distributed in bottles and cans to shops around the world.

We all know the many variants that Coca Cola has, made by the same company as for example: Coca Cola Light, Coca Cola Zero, Coca Cola Diet, Coca Cola without caffeine and in some countries there is a Coca Cola drink with vanilla flavors, cherry, etc.

A simple experiment and its explanation
An interesting experiment that anyone can do is to dip a can of Coca Cola light and another of Coca Cola in water. You can verify that the Coca Cola Light can floats while that of Coca Cola common sinks.

The reason for these reactions is that the sugar is notoriously more dense than water and that the sweetener and a common Coke has an equivalent to eleven tablespoons. So, any common soft drink has a higher density so when put in water it will tend to sink. However, a light soda, being less dense than water, will have the property of floating.
