Possible Benefits Of Drinking Alcohol

in #health9 years ago (edited)

As per @uberfacts via twitter post: "drinking alcohol doesn't actually kill brain cells". This prompted me to google for some other benefits that we can get from alcohol consumption. It is a known fact for me that anything in excess can be bad for the health. This is true for other things besides alcohol. I have stumbled on a lot of articles and social media posts shared by netizens about the advantages of alcohol intake but I really didn't get a clear grasp of it as I just let it pass my sight or just hit the like button without even reading it.

The most important tag line or title of the article that I have read was "Alcohol: If you drink, keep it moderate" (from http://www.mayoclinic.org/). According to the Mayo Clinic Staff, "Moderate alcohol use has possible health benefits, but it's not risk-free". Furthermore, they reiterated that eventhough alcohol may possibly reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes or risk of ischemic stroke, it is still not advisable to take it to prevent such diseases or gain benefits from. Still, the most helpful way to live a healthy and nutritious life is to have a healthy diet by eating vegetables and fruits, and do some exercise. Therefore, if you don't drink, don't start drinking and opt for other healthy alternatives. And, if you do, start the habit of "moderation".
