Have you ever met people who worry a lot? They worry about everything from their jobs, to their marriage, children, Credit card bills, bad relationships or stress at work. Just everything. But many of the things we worry about today cannot be dealt with in a state of anxiety. It's okay to feel concerned about an issue but getting worried over it is something different. "There is a great difference between worry and concern.

Worry is an emotion that involves thinking about possible future problems or outcomes. Thoughts of uncertainty, unpredictability, and uncontrollability. It often takes the form of "what if".....? Being concerned about an issue on the other hand means taking proper steps to create effective solutions, monitoring their outcomes and making changes or modifications where necessary. When a person is concerned, he does not go into the problem over and over again. Instead, he would channel his energy to make the necessary decisions and take the needed steps in order to solve the problem.

As mentioned earlier, everyone worries. Therefore, it probably isn't possible to completely remove worry from your life. However, there are strategies that you can use to manage feelings that have gone beyond positive concerns. For example,

  • Focus on the present. A lot of times, people's worry is focused on the future. As a way of helping you cope with this emotion, It's important that we live our lives one day at a time by focusing on the present moment.

  • Practice speaking positively about the situation. Oftentimes when you do, the impossibility thoughts about the situation will begin to fade as you begin to see the situation clearly as it truly is, not as it is perceived to be.

I grew up to learn early enough in life that thinking about it doesn't make it go away. Worrying is a maze that you will never get to the end except you pull yourself out of it.

Staying concerned, that's a different matter entirely. To ignore is the ultimate sin. Most disaster would have been avoided if someone had been concerned at the right time early enough.

You're right @lordjames. Thanks for your meaning input. Worry gets us no where. It often amplifies an imaginary problem a lot of times but in the end, nothing has changed.

There are alot of reasons and factors that leads to worrying. However some temperaments cant do without worrying, therefore, i appreciate your point but in a country like Nigeria, it needs a worry controlled system.
