Hello everyone. I am back with another health related topics to share. This article is intended for health promotion and prevention. I’m currently working in a medical field and it is my privilege to impart my knowledge with you.

It is all about the plant that grows in the backyard.

The Malunggay tree, also known as Moringa in English and Sajina in South East Asia and indian subcontinents.
It is considered a miracle plant all over the world because it has an excellent source of nutrients, vitamins, & amino acids with a natural source of energy.

It can rebuild weak bones, enrich anemic blood and enable a malnourished mother to nurse her starving body.

Among lactating mothers, eating malunggay leaves increases the flow of milk. This is another health benefit of malunggay that has already been proven.

According to Mr. Mark Frits of Times Magazine, “Ounce for ounce, moringa has calcium of four glasses of milk, Vitamin C of seven oranges and Potassium of three bananas.”

It is also used by doctors to treat diabetes in West Africa and high blood pressure in India. It is also used to treat malnutrition, beriberi, rickets and scurvy.

According to Mr. Fugile – West Africa director for church world service, a dash of moringa powder can purify a tumbler of water. Its seeds and roots contain an antibiotic that Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala found to be as effective against skin infections as neomycin.

Generally, moringa has more nutritional health benefits and medicinal properties. It has high content of Beta-Carotene & fiber as effective against cancer, high vitamin A content which restore good skin condition, strengthen immune system & reduce inflammation & arthritis.

Free radicals are believed to contribute to such disorders as cancer, heart disease and many other conditions associated with aging. In other words, malunggay could help prevent many forms of cancer and delay the aging process.

Malunggay pods when eaten are reported effective against intestinal parasites. Decoction of boiled malunggay roots when used as gargle evidently alleviates hoarseness and sore throat;when used to wash sores and ulcers, it helps dry these lesions because it has antibacterial properties.

Malunggay seeds are apparently good for gout, asthma, and hiccups, and rheumatic pains. The juice of the roots when infused into the ears relieves otalgia or earache, while eating the leaves and fruits relieves constipation. The flowers when boiled with soy milk act as aphrodisiac. Malunggay has also been reported to be of help in controlling diabetes and high blood pressure.

That’s it for now. Have a great day. TIA!
