There's no first aid for depression that you can actually do when it attacks. However you can try these suggestions:

1. Expose yourself to light. Gloomy weather or darkness can contribute to the sadness and such state of mind. Being exposed to light can somehow lighten you.

2. Eat healthy foods. Avoid junk foods, or drinking alcoholic beverages because they can trigger depression. Eat foods rich in Vitamin B and D.

3. Talk to someone who can be your confidant. Someone who don't give judgments. That person is someone who's willing to listen more than talk.

4. Go out and exercise. It can somehow keep you physically fit which can affect you mentally and emotionally in a positive way.

5. Clean up your room regularly. Imagine what its like having cobwebs in your room. That can be depressing. Clean up and you will actually feel fresh.

6. Prayer. This can be a positive tool which really works if you have faith.

7. Massage and reflexology. There are pressure points in your body which if reflexed, can de-stress you, and somewhat feel relieved from depressed moods.

8. There is no shortcut to feel at ease from depression. If necessary, consult a professional.
