As follows some of the diseases caused by the abuse of the screens and sharing of recommendations to prevent the damage from progressing.

1 - Macular degeneration: You could say that it is a long-term effect of radiation. The function of the eyes is affected because this disease attacks the macula, the part of the retina that has better vision. The cause is an accumulation of toxic waste which should normally be eliminated.

2 - Accommodation spasm: It is a disturbance that involves involving both eyes. It occurs due to stress, tension and tiredness; in addition to the permanent proximity to electronic equipment, which is what finally triggers the spasm.

3 - Myopia: It is known as the disease of the new generations and consists of the difficulty to focus from a distance because the eyes have become accustomed to images at short distances, such as those observed on the computer screen, a tablet or the cell phone.

In the case of children is more delicate, because they are in the process of growing. Studies have shown that those who undergo outdoor activities consistently develop less myopia than those who are exposed to artificial lights with some regularity.

The recommendation to prevent it is to make breaks during the day in which the eye looks at an infinite point and use artificial tears when it stays in front of the screen more than three hours.

4 - Dry eye syndrome: It occurs especially in people who use the computer for more than eight hours daily, because the frequency of flicker is reduced 80% when facing a screen. This does not mean that the eye stops moisturizing but that it does not occur properly on the entire surface of the eye. Some symptoms are redness, blurred vision and feeling tired.

It is advisable to blink frequently, take breaks to not stay so long in front of the computer, use artificial tears and even sometimes the specialists recommend glasses, because they allow a break by preventing the radiation from coming directly.

Take care with dry eye syndrome because it is a strong indication of systemic inflammation, that leads to dehydration, circulatory problems and cardiovascular heart disease.
