Against all odds...it is possible.steemCreated with Sketch.

I had to run to his bedside, hearing him gurgling on his secretions via his tracheostomy. Looking at him, I can't help but feel sad on what happened to him. He is quite young at 52...a first time to have had a heart attack. Standing at his feet, he looked peaceful and sleeping comfortably.

History.

A banker as a profession, he just came back after a holiday. He collapsed and was found in the changing room in the gym. The problem is, how long his downtime was unknown. He never woke up since then, even after his angioplasty (unblocking the artery through a balloon) for the artery that have caused his heart attack, the rest of his arteries are still blocked.  A bypass would still be needed if ever he will wake up.

Risk Factor

He was an ex-smoker and he stopped 20 years ago. He is a male and that's all. Although a normal body weight will not definitely rule out a normal cholesterol, japanese people normally eat healthily, don't they? All that sushi and vegan diet? Family and his colleagues reported a healthy lifestyle too.

Could it have been prevented?

His heart attack will probably not...but his treatment could. In heart attacks, TIME IS MUSCLE. Timely and early treatment not only can save lives, it can also prevent debilitation from HEART FAILURE and HYPOXIC BRAIN INJURY.

A blocked artery causes death of heart tissues, and if the affected muscles are wide enough, it will affect the pumping action of the heart. This is where a timely  treatment comes in. Depending on how soon the patient was found. As well on how soon the paramedics have arrived on the scene and initiate treatment.

Treatment on how soon the heart can pump again, supplying blood to the brain and to the heart. Do you guys believe in  miracles? No matter how impossible some things are, against all hope, some patients have overcome.

I hope he will.

Thanks for sharing and raising awareness. I worked in a hospital with a strong cardiology unit. Stress is also a huge factor and from what I have read, Japanese culture puts a lot of stress on its' people.

You're welcome. you maybe right. we get a lot of female having a heart attack due to stress and other emotional response. Though sometimes, their heart attack were caused by broken heart syndrome. Oh we had one male who had a real heart attack due to stress or it was brought on by it.

Thank you @immorojas! My mother in law had a stroke this month, I am really glad she survived and in good shape. Having trouble remembering some things, but can move arms and legs well.

Doctor said that sometimes people do not recover from this and lose the ability to move for rest of their lives.

Some strokes are minimal or can be a TIA where the effects were just temporary, the rest are debilitating.

Hope that the memory problem is temporary and brain will recover.

i hope so too. although my mom who had a TIA few yrs back sort of slowly made her dementia noticeable.

Sorry to hear...

I pray he recovers!

😄😇😄

@creatr

Our guy above can make that happen if He wills it..he is that bad DNR.

So impressive.... :-)

I got side-tracked. i wanted to write about big brother in gyms' locker rooms ;)
or baby monitors or intercons.

or how about gym lockers in baby rooms....these are things that we need to know more about.. :-)

baby rooms have speakers and intercoms..u can see and hear what is happening in their rooms. locker rooms have none of that so anyone having a heart attack alone have less chances of being found. see what i mean??

Of course....i was trying to make a funny....obviously I missed :-(

oh were you errr try again? ;) ;)

it's lost it's timing....you will just have to forgive me (not that I have done anything wrong) :-)

was suggesting to try some other time lolsss
obviously. sorry but am off :)

So nice
