Thyroid Gland: Definition, Function and Location .

in #health7 years ago (edited)

The thyroid gland is located above an Adam's apple and produces thyroid hormones that regulate various things in the human body including temperature, metabolism, heartbeat. Things can get wrong when the thyroid becomes less or more active and the thyroid gland loses its whims. It can be due to pregnancy, genetic causes, autoimmune weakness, miscarriage, undernutrition, toxins but experts are not sure the reasons behind the thyroid disorder .

Thyroid gland excretes thyroid hormones. These hormones are responsible for the chemical processes in the body (metabolism). These hormones affect the processes of demolition and construction by pushing almost all the tissues in the body to manufacture proteins by increasing the amount of oxygen burned by the cells, so it speeds up the work of the body organs when the cells are under pressure and difficult conditions, and the lack of thyroid hormones slow the functions of the body In general, thyroid gland is the only part of the body that absorbs iodine into its cells, where it benefits from the production of thyroid hormones. The thyroid produces three types of hormones: thyroxine (T4), 80 percent of hormones, and triodotirin (T3), about 19 percent. The remaining is calcitonin, which regulates calcium levels in blood.

Symptoms of thyroid dysfunction :

Hair loss is caused by the increase or decrease in thyroid hormone, and there is a possibility to get rid of this problem after receiving treatment for the defect.

The emergence of different changes occur on the state and psychological activity rate, in this case is lack of secretions of the thyroid gland, which leads to inactivity and laziness in addition to the sense of depression, but in the situation that increases the secretions of the thyroid becomes a person is fast-moving and overactive and accompanied by a sense of anxiety and tension And nervousness.

Feeling hot or cold as thyroid dysfunction is responsible for the inability of the body to regulate the temperature, if there is an increase in the secretion of the hormone, the body sweats and does not tolerate temperatures, but in the case of lack of secretion, the body tends to feel cold even in the hottest times.

A change in the heart rate, as increased thyroid secretion leads to a faster rate of heart rate than normal rate, which raises the blood pressure and a significant increase in the sound of heartbeat, and in the case of lack of thyroid secretion, the heart rate will fall below the rate Natural. The appearance of swelling in the thy.

Hypothyroidism :

is a condition in which the thyroid gland is not active enough and produces a small amount of a particular hormone or several hormones.

Thyroid hormones, commonly called thyroid hormones, are called hormones that control the pace of chemical processes in the body (metabolism or metabolism). Thyroid hormones affect the metabolic rate by stimulating almost all tissues in the body to produce proteins, and by increasing the amount of oxygen that cells use. When cells work harder, the body's organs work faster. Hypothyroidism slows the body's functions.

Treatment of hyperthyroidism:

Individuals with hyperthyroidism are often treated with radioactive iodine or anti-thyroid medications needed to relieve and normalize thyroid functions. However, in some cases the treatment of hyperthyroidism affects the work of the thyroid gland in a lot of drugs that limit the excessive thyroid activity I can not give any medicine should consult a doctor .
