Symptoms of High Estrogen

  • Spider or varicose veins

Estrogen dominance is one of the most common hormonal imbalances women experience today.

It is so common, that we assume that having PMS, being menopausal and having fibroids is normal. It is not and there is a way to fix it.

Estrogen dominance affects 80 percent of women over thirty-five and elevated estrogen levels have been connected to be the leading cause of breast cancer in women.

Estrogen dominance is complex but can be caused by:
A) Poor liver function -the liver is responsible for eliminating metabolized or “used up” hormones, especially estrogens

B) Exposure to exogenous estrogen in meat and dairy (growth hormones given to animals); low soluble and insoluble fiber intake; eating food sprayed heavily with pesticides/herbicides and overuse of antibiotics.

C) Excess exposure to xenoestrogens
*Environmental: chemical compounds such as phthalates, BPAs, sodium laurel sulfate, found in skin care products and household cleaners.
*Dietary: exposure to exogenous estrogen in meat and dairy.
*Pharmaceutical: use of synthetic estrogens such as the birth control pill and hormone replacement therapy (HRT)

D) Stress- When stressed, the adrenal glands “steal” the precursor to progesterone (DHEA) and instead use it to produce cortisol, your body’s stress hormone, tipping the hormonal balance in favor of estrogen

Fixing the problem:
A) Restore the health of your digestive system
B) Improve your liver function
C) Eat organic (avoid POPS- Persistent Organic Pollutants, which are concentrated in animal fat)
D) Eliminate xenoestrogens in the diet and environment
