Hi - this is a worthwhile piece of research and your methods seem sound but I'd recommend changing your graph so that 'large amounts' are on the left and 'small amounts' on the right - then the trend would be clearer, also I think that's a more 'natural' way of displaying this, as it stands it confused me until I 'reversed' it in my head!
