The best way to get very easy your daily portion of fruit!
Preparing your juices at home is better. We can choose the fruits that we like the most and those that are in better condition and know that we put the juice, thus avoiding excess sugar and preservatives and additives in industrial juices. It is a liquid food by which our body absorbs nutrients faster and better.
However, drinking fruit juices does not replace the fact and need to eat fruit because in part the vitamins are lost in the process and we do not acquire all the fiber that has the whole fruit.
That said, natural juices complement our daily diet very well and we can take them at any time of the day. In addition with the juices prepared in your home you do not depend on what the companies decide to produce or sell the supermarkets, you produce what you want to drink and so you can choose between many fruits and vegetables to combine.
Today I bring you 3 fruits that are not so common in the world and are delicious to prepare juices and smoothies.
The Carambola
The Carambola is known for its shape, which is starred, so it is used not only to eat after washing and peeling but is used to decorate for example drinks.
It belongs to the botanical family of oxalidaceae, is found in India and Latin America. It is very sweet, which makes it ideal for making juices with it and also smoothies.
It has excellent nutritional properties, since it contains calcium, magnesium, potassium, as well as vitamins of the B group and vitamin C.
Its juice helps to fight the summer heat, it is taken as Carambola water. It is drunk with a lot of ice which makes it perfect for the summer season, has a bittersweet taste but is very tasty.
To prepare juice or water of carambola we need five carambolas (1/2 kilo or 1 pound) and 1.500 cm3 of water, with less water the water is thicker and very sweet. After this we beat and process the carambolas previously peeled in 1.5 liters of water and then we pass through a strainer the carambola water to remove the lumps.
It is also called the fruit of the star, of the five fingers, tiriguro and caramboleiro. Don't be confused, we are talking about the same fruit.
The Kiwano
(This pic is mine)
We are talking about kiwano, which has different denominations including African cucumber, kino, milu and banana kiwi.
(This pic is mine)
This fruit has its origin in Africa, belongs to the botanical family of cucurbits (melons and cucumbers for example). It has a light green pulp with lots of seeds that turns orange green when ripe.
The kiwano has a phenomenal nutritional contribution: sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus and vitamins B and C. Like watermelon (another cucurbit), it is a fruit that has a lot of water and is low in calories.
It has a smell or aroma and a taste or taste very peculiar, is used for salads, also in juices and drinks. If you liked the taste of Kiwano, you can try making a melon, kiwano and ginger juice.
This is a great combination.
Pomegranate
It has great properties for health, the pomegranate is often called "the plant of health". It contains many antioxidants and also desinflama the organism. It grows in the pomegranate, a tree pulling small with few branches.
This fruit has a lot of history. You can see very old paintings where it is represented and is present since the antiquity of humanity. There is nothing better than following the trail of our ancestors and enjoying this great fruit.
The best way to extract its juice is to take the trouble to peel it and pass it through a blender and then filter the pulp and seeds with a strainer. Its juice itself is sweet and a little acidic, you can add stevia which is a natural sweetener from Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay or simply sugar, with its juice you can dress pork and also chicken.
Its juice is very similar to combine with blueberry juice and raspberries. You can make a juice with three pomegranates and 200 grams of blueberry plus 200 grams of raspberries. Put everything in the blender with a little water and then filter pulp and seeds with a sieve and then add stevia or sugar.

Rest in peace. Descansa en paz.
