About 60% people, whose death was considered to be guaranteed, were cured by nano particles. This is sucess as the particles were given to them, when they were basicly counting weeks or just days.

What are nano particles? Nano particles are substances with a size of one molecula or chain lower than 100 nanometers. Sometimes, particles with a size of 900 nanometers and below are marked nano too, but it is incorrect from the chemical perspective and is used as a marketing trick. They are of different properties than real nano particles.

What is a polymer? Polymers are long chains of monomers, which are small moleculas with one double or triple chemical bond. Monomers usually consist of a few to dozens atoms and can bind together, when double bond is destroyed.

What Is Cancer?

Cancer is a very complex issue. Basicly, any cells can have cancer. When they do, they start to multiply uncontrolably and stop doing their biological purpose.

There are more kinds of cancer, but most display some similar properties.

• Vessels leading to tumor are more chained, yet uncompleted with holes in them. This can be used to sneak some particles into the place of a tumor if they are too big to be absorbed elsewhere and small enough to go through these holes.
• Cancer cells have diverse biomechanism changing the acidity level all around. Some substances can be activated by a particular acidity level or be broken into smaller pieces, while releasing cancer-fighting parts.  This can help further target the particles against the source of cancer instead of working in the whole body as chemotherapy does.
• Cancer cells require more sugars and multiply moreoftenly. This can be used trojan horse. Sugars can be part of the polymer. Or the whole sugar intake can be reduced, whereas fats may replace it as energy source. However, this would only work to a limited extent as your body needs sugar dilluted in the blood anyway.
• Cells with cancer have an incomplete membrane. Particles which are not able to enter healthy cells will jump right into the unhealthy ones through the given holes.

How Can This Help to Solve a Cancer Problem?

Imagine you have a substance, which is basicly a cell-destroyer (just to simplify). You make it small enough to make body absorb it, but too big to enter a normal cell. Once it is absorbed, it will go through vessels and leave it through the holes, which is where to cancer dwells. Then, its still big molecula will be broken into smaller ones, which can enter the cancer cells through a broken membrane and take an action.

Certainly, it is difficult to choose a correct substance. Not all of them come with a little to no harm to our bodies. The goal is to reduce side effects of chemotherapy. But it is possible today. Scientist do make about 5,000 abortive attempts with substances unfit for curing cancer. Then, they statistically find one, which works somehow.

An interesting advantage some substances may have is a fluorescency, which means, they will lighten and color the tumor just as in the image below.

What Is The Progress?

Currently, one-cancer-sort-curing nanoparticles are allowed and can be produced. Another 4 kinds are tested an might be ready in just a few years.

But in the end, it comes to prevention anyway. There are many repair biomechanisms, which do help to prevent cancer in the body. All cells repair their DNA before dividing for example --- if they don't have extreme amount of proteins available. If they do, this biomechanism fails. And this is what my next article is about.
