Why Bananas Are The Best Fruit In Colder Climates

in #health7 years ago (edited)

Banana is the most quality reliant fruit if you ask me. It's the most sold fruit in the world, consistent in its taste and is easy to store and ripen up at home.

A few tips are to look for bulky and big bananas. If they're bulky its a sign that they were picked late and are more mature bananas, compared to the ones that lay super-close to each other on the bunch which is a sign of them being picked too early.

Store bananas in room-temperature if you want them to ripen fast. If you store bananas in a cold room or in the fridge it'll up ripen slower dependant on the temperature.

Always place the bananas the right side down. They should look like a bowed bridge on the counter. This should be done to prevent damaging the bananas. If you place them the other side down they'll easily get bruised because all the weight is only at one point (Nearly all supermarkets make this mistake)

The standard variety which you find in your local supermarket is called "Cavendish" This banana should be eaten when it's spotty and a little bit soft when you press it. Then you know it's ripe, and the riper it is the sweeter.

Some ways to use bananas are to make smoothies, as a sweetener (banana pancakes anyone?) or you could make a delicious fruit-bowl.

A medium sized banana is roughly around 100 calories, A few bananas are excellent if you're hungry between meals.

Do you like bananas?

Yup. I learned that through observation ;) Always on the side hehe. I have a pile of bananas all the time. Fave fruit probably :)

A lot we can understand if we simply observe :)

Good point... I’m in Florida where it is “cold” right now. The weather is anywhere between 50 and 70 F. And I have been eating a lot more bananas lately!!

Bananas seem more attractive the colder it is for some reason. I think one of them is that we don't lose as much fluids in colder climates and therefore banana is a more attractive food in those areas compared to the more juicy fruit.

I remember much of my aversion from them was because I didn't like the thought of eating something that wouldn't completely hydrate me when traveling in warm climates.

love bananas, do u know where ur ones are imported from, do u get labled organic or just regular ones

The regular stores import them from Costa Rica. I can get bananas from other countries if I head to local "foreign" stores. I just buy the regular ones, don't have the economics to buy much organic produce.

went to costa rica and noticed the export industry kinda sucks but we cant always avoid buying these ones. i image produce is quite expensive in norway

At least 10 a day for me! :D
