Kicking Polio Out of Nigeria: Sub-Immunization Plus Days [Day 1]

in #health7 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians,

It was indeed a hectic day for me as we commenced Sub-Immunization Plus Days (SIPDS) against polio in Nigeria for the month of October 2017.

Polio (Poliomyelitis) is a highly infectious disease that is caused by a virus.

It leads to sudden weakness of any part of the body of a child below 15 years old. It is also a viral disease that is transmitted from person-to-person through feces, contaminated food & water.

In response to the confirmed outbreak of poliomyelitis in two Local Government Areas of Borno State, 2 rounds of Sub-Immunization Plus Days (SIPDS) and 2 round of National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDS) have been implemented this year in Nigeria.

To further boost the immunization status of Nigerian kids, we started another round of Sub-Immunization Plus Days (SIPDS) in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, I'm pleased to supervise this exercise as it gives me the privilege to be amongst the heroes who fought against polio, giving our kids hope for a better future as we draw the curtain over Polio (Poliomyelitis) in Nigeria.
Thanks to World Health Organization (WHO), with the support of Bill Gates and Warren Buffet for making this dream a reality.

Below are some photos taken by me at the scene of the exercise for day 1 (October 14, 2017):

Today being Saturday, we immunized most of these eligible kids (0-5yrs) at home.

Money alone cannot quantify the risk we take to make sure all these children are being immunized.

A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.

This is my little contribution to humanity.

Humanity is everything.

@ememovic it please me to see such a programme going on in these subregions.

Also I commend y'all efforts as well as the sponsors of this programme.

I can't believe polio is still spreading in spite of the several immunizations provided... I hope you guys will extend towards western region and others.

Much thanks to Bill Gates and Warren Buffet for such support.

Now this is what is meant when we talk about giving back to our society.
Bro more strength to your elbow. @ememovic

The society needs people like you.
It's true that one isn't really different from others until they learn to sacrifice.

Nice one dear

Thanks darling.
