The Magic of Music in Patients with Alzheimer's.

in health •  13 days ago

There is research that concludes that musical memories have a different location in the brain to other memories and even European Neuroscientists claim that this part of the brain is preserved less damaged by the disease, they also state that music is one of the few tools that we have therapists to deal with the advance of Alzheimer's, the memories that last the most are related to experiences that caused strong or intense emotions and Music goes hand in hand with emotions; it is a little what explains in very simple terms why some patients with this disease regardless of their stage are disoriented in time, space and person, but; You can remember the lyrics of a Song.

My patient is a 90-year-old Mrs. who remembers very well the lyrics of who her favorite artist Carlos Gardel was, but; At times he can not remember the name of his children or his grandchildren, he believes that where he currently lives for years is not his home, nor does he know his age, however when we sing together a song that he keeps in his memories and I am wrong in the letter corrects me; it is impressive as his state of mind while singing is modified by improving anxiety, agitation and the best is the face of happiness while we sing, a connection difficult to describe and not only with those famous songs in his time as recommended by some specialists they manage to stimulate them, but also some unknown to them.

As a nurse and because of the experience I have gained in caring for these patients, I recommend music as part of the therapy. It is simply MAGICAL

HERE I LEAVE YOU THIS AUDIO NOTE WHERE I MEET THE VENEZUELAN CUATRO ME AND SINGING TOGETHER WITH MY PATIENT THAT IS AFFECTED BY ALZHEIMER, BUT DESPITE HIS ILLNESS ACHIEVES TO REMEMBER AND SING, THIS IS PART OF THE DAILY ROUTINE......
