HELP!!! WORK-STRESS IS HUNTING ME DOWN

In 2011, a neighbor who was living the flat opposite ours, Mr. Mbang had left for work one morning but before it was 2:30pm, the sad news of his demise swept the entire neighborhood. He worked with UNICEM, a Cement manufacturing company and had just welcomed his first baby after 7 years of marriage. His joy knew no bound. Before leaving for work that morning, his baby had been experiencing some disturbance, which is common among babies. But the consistent yelping of the beautiful infant through the night muddle this novel parent.

He reluctantly left for work as he had just resumed from the break he filed for the week of his wife's delivery and had no acceptable reason to skip work any day soon. Trace of last phone call showed a call from his beloved wife, Ekom. Mr. Mbang slumped on the staircase trying to hurry home. The call was about his baby.

Researchers have shown that stress considerably increases the development of cardiovascular problem and different health challenges. Being unable to control stress successfully is likewise related to an accelerated prevalence of violence. Alternatively, gaining knowledge and practicing stress management promotes well-being.

Every person’s environment holds the potential for change and a number of which may be seen as life-threatening. Being capable to manage or adjust to the regularly tough, stimulating, or unfavorable moments is what will contribute to a sense of well-being. Whilst human beings handle changes poorly, however, their responses results in a pressure that can be disruptive to their health and ugly to experience.

Few Terminologies to be noted Includes:-

Stress: the physiological and mental disruption caused by the presence of an unanticipated, disruptive, or stimulating events.

Stressors: elements or events, actual or imagined that elicit a state of stress.

Eustress: (yoo strain) - stress that complements the quality of lifestyles.

Distress: stress that reduces the quality of life; usually related to disease, infection, and maladaptation.

Having taken note of the terminologies above, we will now focus this discussion on what Work-Related stress entails and how it can be reduced.

work stress is becoming a part of everyday existence. It impacts our society as a whole in different ways, contributing to growing health care charges, and decreasing countrywide productiveness. If left unchecked, work-related stress can have a profound effect on your physical and mental fitness, Hyness SG et al, (1987).

Sources of Work Stress

In view of the fact that the majority of people often attach their job to their self-worth, work-associated stress may be a big hassle in our everyday lives. It’s, therefore, crucial to outline things that could cause stress inside the place of work (job stressors), and, as much as possible, deal with them in a wholesome manner. Common job stressors including but not limited to the following:

  1. Lack of Necessary resources
  2. Working with Hazardous pieces of equipment or tools
  3. Conflict with colleagues, supervisors, or workers under your supervision
  4. Poor time management or organization
  5. Deadlines
  6. Long working hours
  7. Too much or too little responsibilities
  8. Lack of control over work planning and methods
  9. Threat of pay reduction or unemployment
  10. Change in work routine

All these stated above are factors every worker may have to deal with at one time or another in the workplace. The stressors may vary from job to job, and individuals react in different ways to this stimuli but everyone is usually affected in some ways by job stressors.

Reducing work-related stress

Here are a few things you can do to reduce the effect of work-related stress. I’ll try to hold this very brief.

1: Recognize when stress is getting to you
Be able of perceiving early caution signs and symptoms that you are getting under heavy stress. Emotional symptoms may include anxiety, lack of interest etc. Mental fatigue, bodily exhaustion can also be a physical manifestation of stress. As a result, know yourself properly enough to understand when stressors are affecting you.

2: Know the things you cannot control and deal with them
Not even a CEO is under total control of his job. Becoming angry and obsessed with a scenario you can’t do something about increases your stress degree. Developing an extra flexible mindset in the direction of conditions can be a totally wholesome thing to do.

3: take a Break
Schedule some break time to get refreshed. In case your company or agency schedule routine break time, don’t use it to get more work completed. Your physical and mental health can be helped immensely by just taking advantage of your break time.

4: Try a few exercise

Physical exercises are very healthy for the body and the mind. In our busy schedules, create at least some hours in a week for a few exercises. Exercise can simply boom your energy level and increase physical resistance to pressure or stress

5: make your administrative center accommodating
Stress as a result of a risky or an unconducive work environment may be decreased through taking safety precautions when possible. Even for people who work on computers and other ray emitting gadgets. Use a shaded display to lessen eyestrain and headaches.

That's why I followed you cause from your desk flows vital information...... Stress is one thing we all need to avoid..... It could be positive (preparing for your convocation) or negative(loosing someone dear to you). The symptoms could be physical or emotional......
