Things we should know when eating vegetables

in #health7 years ago

We have already known that eating vegetables especially raw give you an abundance of nutrients in a single shot. But without knowing the facts about how to eat vegetables may end up with specific unwanted consequences. In addition, many of us do not even like to eat them raw. However, in order to get a healthy life, we have to give away our pleasure of eating and consider what we are eating and why we are eating.

Eating a bunch of food with Trans fats may give you a complete pleasure, but it is going to effect in longer run. Moreover, eating them may make you obese, which will be followed by many inevitable diseases. So if you are a person like me who does not like to eat salads with kale or any other raw vegetables you could make some smoothies with this vegetable and drink. This way you don’t have to waste time on cutting and chewing, instead, you will get many nutrients in a single shot.

Things to consider before doing this or eating salad are remember that vegetable alone can cure many diseases about a significant percentage.

Eating seven or more portions of fruit and vegetables a day reduces your risk of death at any point in time by 42 percent compared to eating less than one portion, reports a new study. This is the first study to link fruit and vegetable consumption with all-cause, cancer and heart disease deaths in a nationally-representative population, the first to quantify health benefits per-portion, and the first to identify the types of fruit and vegetable with the most benefit. Another point to consider is that when you want to consume them say after one week, you better freeze those items, because when you kept vegetables open the chances of nutrients escaping is more when compared to frozen vegetables.

Please be aware that canned vegetables are not so good when compared to natural vegetables. Because in order to increase the shelf life of the vegetables, they pasteurize, which end up in killing off most essential enzymes.

When you want to consume cabbage, broccoli or onion, don’t ignore or throw away the most nutrient part of the vegetable that is the outermost part. And don’t forget to cook if needed in lower flame, which contributes in decrease of nutrients if cooked in high flame.

These are just a few things I assume that are important.

Love the smoothie idea, I do the same thing with kale!

Great post! I am eating mostly raw for almost a year now and I have noticed that many veggies that I did not like a few years back are finally tasting amazing! Our taste buds are getting much more sensitive and can find pleasure in high-quality, raw, simple ingredients when they are not overwhelmed with artificial flavors and a huge amount of sugar and fat.

Normally, I don't find it pleasant to eat vegetables raw, I know it has health advantages though. After reading through this post, I got encouraged to do so.

And don’t forget to cook if needed in lower flame, which contributes in decrease of nutrients if cooked in high flame.
Honestly, I didn't know about this. Thanks for the informative post.

As a doctor, I completely agree with you, but you need also to know if you eat some of these vegetables, they have influence on medication some of steemit members use. I will post something about that tomorrow.

Thanks for the post, it was very usefull :)

vegetables are good source of nutrients

always nice to learn new info.

Did you guys know that some vegetables look like some parts of our body and they say that they are good for those particular parts? For example, if you cut a carrot what you see is a form of the human eye, therefore carrots ( as we know as well) are good for the eyes. Another example is nuts, like walnuts look like our brain, therefore they are good for our brain. Cool huh?

I will only eat certain vegetables raw but I know I need the nutrients as you said. I actually went and got the 10 day green smoothie book to help. I love green smoothies now and it gets me the stuff I need.

@dcrypto Thank you for Valuable information.

Best source of information regarding food is for me Whole: Rethinking the Science of Nutrition (really educational book) I have to recommend it.
