Omega3s are best acquired from algae. This is because it is less suffering for the fish and because it's less saturated fat for your arteries. Saturated fat is mostly bad to consume. I say mostly bad because there are forms such as medium chain triglycerides which are digested different (they do not raise LDL) so are not as bad.

But for the most part saturated fat is over consumed represented by the biomarker LDL in blood. Most people in the west have LDL over 100 when risk reduction happens when LDL is under 70. This means the target level is under 70 and for this reason I prefer algae oil for omega 3 and plant based diet.

I admit that algae oil is expensive. If you can afford it then it's the best form of omega 3 because it has the lowest saturated fat. Anyone who decides to try using omega 3, make sure to track your LDL cholesterol level because it's known to rise from omega 3 consumption.
