High IQ is associated with mental illness

in #health7 years ago (edited)

Having an IQ over 130 may make you more prone to mental illness according to a study. Some of the mental illnesses identified included autism, adhd, anxiety disorder, etc. While I don't know if it's true or not it is still an interesting study. I'm actually quite skeptical of psychology as psychology is not a "hard science" and has often been abused by those in positions of authority.

At the same time some aspects of psychology appear to work (behaviorism). Mental health is serious and anyone who has a condition which causes misery for themselves, or which puts themselves and or others in danger, should seek help.

Not too surprising to read this "news", anything outside the normalities would stick out like a soar thumb and society is built to make sure the thumb will feel the pain for being so outside the mold...

Thanks for sharing, namaste :)

I hate being bipolar, it's awesome!

whatever, passing school is not passing sense, besides God and Jesus we model after had none, neither did he need such to make the various planets be or even the smart mother earth and its wonderful contents, go to your bible one of the most funny question ever asked where that asked by a so called high IQ kinda person, prof nikodemus, wisdom is profitable to apply +Understanding not IQ

Jesus and god being uneducated explains alot about religion.

A mind is a terrible thing to use sometimes. The more intelligence a person has, the greater the ability they have to sabotage themselves and bring about despair.

Having proper focus and discipline is essential to avoiding the pitfalls of being intelligent.

genius and idiots are always somewhere close..
if you have a chance to choose - just to be an avarage person or a genius-crazy what would you choose?)

I'm not a grand genius, but being average sounds appealing. The grass is always greener on the other side.

It depends what would be the definition of illness for you. For example autism, they are like they are and it might be totally normal for them to be that way. But us, as we have a different perception, we think they are the one not normal. But as you said, they might be genius.

Don't worry, it's not normal for us! :)

And If You Believe That, I Have a Bridge to Sell You!

Wait for real? NO way.

Yeah... I don't think that would surprise anyone but someone with a 65 IQ or less

smart people are not what is considered "normal" or average by definition and it's easy to label those who don't fit in with majorities as mentally ill
