Protect your bones by avoiding these seemingly harmless foods and drinks

Calcium is the mineral that we need to give protection to our bones. It replenishes the need of our bones while we grow and not only that, calcium also plays a role in keeping our muscles strong and able to do it's job of making us move particularly the muscles of our hearts, that is why there are calcium channel blocker hypertension drugs that blocks the action of calcium to the heart muscles thereby weakening it to pump lesser blood just to lower a patient's blood pressure. So from bone to muscles we do need calcium in our diets to give us the necessary requirement for a healthier and stronger body.

But there are anti calcium foods that we need to avoid in order not to lower the calcium level in our blood because large amounts of this substance will trigger our parathyroid glands to release a hormone for our bones to release extra calcium just for reabsorption back to the bone. But it won't reabsorb because of high amounts of this substance.

That substance is Phosphorus, and foods like a cola has a high phosphoric acid content and you can confirm that on the label. Next is the leavening agents except yeast in commercial breads and biscuits, but some breads have alum in them used for bleaching purposes so that the product will get lighter in color and raise at the same time. Aluminum weakens the bones as well by blocking the absorption of calcium from the small intestines.

Not all softdrinks have a phosphoric acid in them and not all bread products uses bleaching agents and leavening agents that contain alum or aluminum. We just have to be careful not to consume them in large quantities or completely avoid if possible in order for us to get an extra protection for our bone and overall health.

I don't do pop but I am guilty of the occasional tonic water, plus. I wonder if that also contains phos acid? I brush my teeth with calcium and magnesium powder (and baking soda) (and coconut oil) and am pretty pleased with the results from that. How do you take calcium @cryptopie? This is definitely of interest because my father had parathyroid issues.

Hi @geke
Colas are the common softdrinks that contains phosphoric acid, the reason for that maybe as a stabilizer for that food color they use as not to curdle but I am not sure, possibly for flavor too. One thing to consider is that it is very high in phosphorus. You can check the ingredients of other drinks if it does contain such ingredient.
There are baking sodas that do not contain alum so maybe you can use that if you like as alum also is absorbed by the skin.
I just take calcium supplement myself but sometimes it makes my stools hard so I taper it off a bit.
Your father must be managed by a specialist for his parathyroid issues, it is a delicate condition that will affect his bone health.

Thank you @geke , I appreciate your support.

i only prefer to drink natural Juices.
