RE: Mental Health Awareness week - Its ok to ask for help!

in #health6 years ago

The way I look at is that its pretty common and if people want to judge you then they arent really your friends anyway. Talking about it is the best way to help people out - some people might not have anyone so just hearing them out can be helpful

I personally think that having at least one good friend that you fully trust and are able to talk openly with about any subject, is the best form of preventing mental breakdowns.

The sad reality is that most men don't even have one of these. Often times we are our own best counselors, but we need someone else to be able to talk our issues out with. It's amazing what we can learn about ourselves if we have someone to just listen, without judgment, or constantly trying to offer solutions. This is the technique many of the best counselors utilize.

Thanks for putting this out there.

Yeah I agree - I have been lucky to have really supportive family and friends who have helped me through depression but not everyone is as lucky....

Even if you dont have a friend just speaking toa counseller can be happy, its amazing what you can find out when someone just listens to you - you kind of sort the problems out yourselves. Alot of men I feel would be embarassed to go to a couseller.

Thanks for reading! :)
