RE: PCOS Awareness Month

in #health8 years ago

I don't know what is in the air, but there has just been a lot of negativity towards "invisible" illnesses or ones that aren't well understood. Just seems like more than normal over the past couple weeks. And it isn't just the general uniformed but the medical community too!

I have a "friend" on fb. She's one of those I've known for over a decade from college. She's a fitness fanatic - i.e. participates in bikini competitions. Okay, that in and of itself is not condemning if that is your hobby.

She's also a registered nurse. Despite all the education she has she still actually thinks those who are oveewight or obese from legit health conditions liks PCOS or thyroid problems, etc need to be more "disciplined." She sure missed the psycho-social section of her studies. Treating people like that makes them feel worse, not better.

@chelsea88 Unfortunately there are many like her. If she is blessed to be able to achieve a fit body and maintain it then she has no business judging others who she knows nothing about and what they are battling. Thank you for the resteem!

your welcome. It needed to be resteemed. Less judgement, more awareness!

Thank you!! The more awareness the better!
