in #health8 years ago (edited)

Dear steamians, having a beautiful garden is someting to be proud of!

YOU CAN HAVE A HOME GROWN MEDICINAL & GENERAL AID PANTRY THAT LOOKS AND SMELLS GREAT!

Today I would love to share a few life changing gardening tips with you.

Your garden does not need to be restricted to beauty alone!

The Malva

~Pelargonium culallatum (wild malva)

  • The leaves of this plant can be dried and added to your favorite bath salt blend and this will aid in relief from sore and tired muscles. Better yet, if you have some growing in your garden, why not pick some fresh leaves to add to your bath!
  • Another use for this plant is using bruised leafs as a poultice that can be applied to sores and wounds.
  • Bruising the leaves and rolling it into a plug can help as a natural aid for ear ache.
  • The leaves can also be used as a tea for the treatment of a upset stomach!
  • The flowers not only look great in your garden - they also look great on your plate! You can add these edible flowers as garnish to your favorite dishes or puddings, and they are also great in salads!

Wild Sorrel

~Oxalis pes-caprae (wild sorrel)

  • When cooking the Wild Sorrel is very often used as a substitute for salt
  • The entire plant is edible and adds a nice tangy taste to salads

Wild Garlic

~Tulbachia Violacea (wild garlic)

  • Again the entire plant can be eaten
  • The leaves are a great substitute for chives when cooking baking or making salads, and the flowers are a great looking garnish
  • The leaves can be boiled and steeped into a strong tea that can be used as an insect repellent on humans and other garden plants alike
  • Making a tea from the roots and or leaves is a great aid in relieving symptoms of colds and is a great aid in the treatment for coughs

Jasmine

~Jasminum multipartitum (many-petalled jasmine)

Other than its welcoming fresh scent in a garden, this lovely plant has some other great attributes!

  • jasmine can be used as an aphrodisiac, a sedative, an antiseptic, antidepressant, antispasmodic
  • The flowers are great in salads, as a baking aid or seeped as a tea
  • Seeped tea from the flowers also helps reduce headaches

I hope that you like this post!
