Coconut Oil & All its Benefits
What is coconut oil?
Coconut oil is obtained from dill - dried coconut meat.
The basic ingredient of coconut oil is lauric acid, which has strong antiviral and antibacterial effect and it protects us from many diseases.
The only other source of lauric acid is breast milk, and it is known that milk builds the immune system of a newly born baby, so it's clear how that is important.
The other ingredient of coconut oil is caprylic acid, which promotes the development of "good" bacteria, especially lactic acid bacteria.
Caprylic acid has a positive effect on the cure of candida and destroys the parasites in the digestive tract.
The advantage of coconut oil in front of other oils is also the medium chain fatty acids which are easily digested and absorbed in the human body and do not burden the digestive system. These fatty acids do not endanger the blood but go directly to the liver, where they turn into energy.
Coconut oil = superfood
Coconut oil is one of the few foods that can be classified as "super food".
Its unique combination of fatty acids can have profound positive effects on our health.
This includes fat loss, better brain function and various other incredible benefits.
Coconut oil is one of the richest sources of saturated fatty acids. The largest number of fatty acids in the diet are long-chain fatty acids, but the coconut oil's medium fatty acids behave differently in the metabolism.
They go straight into the liver from the digestive tract where they are used as a fast energy source or converted into ketone bodies, which may have a therapeutic effect on brain diseases such as epilepsy and Alzheimer's.
Coconut oil has shown its efficiency in fast energy lifting and is also used as a natural sun protection. It can also be used as a moisturizer and is recommended to be applied to the skin before bedtime.
Populations consuming coconut oil = healthy populations
Coconut is kind of "exotic food" in the western world, which is consumed by health conscious people only. However, in some parts of the world, coconut is one of the main foods.
The best example is a population of Tokelau, which lives in the South Pacific. They put in their body over 60% of coconut calories. They are the biggest saturated fat consumers in the world. These are people of excellent health, without evidence of heart disease.
Coconut oil in culinary can be used for:
- Frying, cooking and other food preparation,
- Cooking in wok,
- As a substitute for spread (instead of butter or dairy spreads),
- A special flavor of coffee, hot chocolate or cocoa,
- Preparation of salty and sweet cakes, pancakes, bread and rolls &
- Preparation of delicious and healthy fruit and vegetable juices and marmalade.
Beauty hacks
- Body peeling (2 spoons of coconut oil & 1 spoon of coffee)
- Face peeling (1 spoon of coconut oil & 1 spoon of baking soda)
- Hair mask (1-4 spoons of coconut oil; depends of hair length)
- Make up removal
- Nail care
- Sun cream
- Eye bags (apply drop of oil on them)
- Body lotion
Oil pulling
Oil pulling is a traditional folk remedy for shaking coconut oil in the mouth cavity. In this way, bacteria and toxins accumulate in the mouth and are extracted by oil pulling from the body. After twenty minutes the oil pulling process is completed.
You should be doing this at least once a day.
How does oil pulling works:
- It treats roten teeth and bleeding gums,
- Whiten teeth,
- Relieves bad breath,
- Strengthens the plum,
- Prevents cavity,
- Calms the dry throat,
- Strengthens immunity,
- Reduces flatulence &
- Hydrates cracked lips.
Exactly @blueorchid, coconut is absolutely healthy, but I only use it for the body. One have to be careful about:
"While coconut oil does give ‘good’ HDL cholesterol a boost, it can still raise ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol levels as well. That’s because coconut oil is about 90% saturated fat—even more than butter—and saturated fat raises LDL cholesterol. According to Walter C. Willett, M.D. of Harvard School of Public Health, “coconut oil is (not) as healthful as vegetable oils like olive oil and soybean oil, which are mainly unsaturated fat and therefore both lower LDL and increase HDL.” Since the long-term effects of coconut oil on cholesterol levels has not been researched extensively, it’s best to use coconut oil sparingly."
My favorite use for coconut oil is for sunbaths, I also mix it with my shower lotion (makes a perfect skin!) and after shaving instead of aftershave or lotion.
Have a great day and best regards
Tom
It is interesting that countries with the highest intake of coconut oil have the lowest rates of heart disease,
MCTs (middle chain triglycerides) are formed by the esterification process, the reaction between the three fatty acids and the glycerol alcohol).
Fatty acids be long depending on the number of carbon atoms 2 - 24.
LCTs (long chains) are mostly dietary oils and fats.
LCT is hard to absorb in the body (they need special bitter acids and absorption routes in the lymph channels).
MCT is easy to absorb
MCT is primarily found in coconut oil and some nuts.
Most importantly, MCT in the body acts as an instigator for combustion LCT!
So, MCT encourages combustion the Fat in body,
( works to increase thermogenesis - creating heat in humans).
Researchers have concluded that it is not saturated with coconut fat that negatively affects the cholesterol profile.
There is a big difference between high quality saturated fat in coconut oil or MCT in oils that you get in a fast food cheeseburger.
And total cholesterol is not a predictable predictor of heart disease or stroke.
Inflammation is a culprit for most diseases, and coconut oil is highly anti-inflammatory.
MCT is extremely safe.
Man quickly supplies energy,
cancer cells can not use it as food
protects protein reserves and
helps with the slow release of unwanted fat in our body.
Do not be afraid of saturated fat, but take it out of a healthy source, such as coconut and grass.
you're right @crypto-mammoth,
but in these countries were the coconut is at home, they are not more healthy only because of the coconuts, they eat more healthy at all and have a better lifestyle, hehehe
We call it Sabai, Sabai in Thailand, which means just Everthing's Chilled...
Best regards
Tom
Looks like we'll have to start learning from them now.
And we are "advanced civilization", ha ha ha..

Great work!!!
