WHAT IS PILATES DAY?

"Pilates Day is an annual, international, community event celebrated on the first Saturday of May every year.The Pilates Day mission is to foster the public’s appreciation and awareness of the Pilates Method through a network of varied, innovative, and high quality grassroots Pilates events accessible and affordable for all."

Pilates Day in Thailand

There is a tightly-knit and growing Pilates community within Bangkok, and this day was all about bringing teachers, students, businesses and friends together to share knowledge and friendship. Small booths were set-up to exhibit a variety of apparel, food and equipment. Pilates professionals also hosted a variety of workshops, classes and discussion panels during the day. Custom made t-shirts were also printed for the event, and the best part is that all the money raised on the day is to be donated to a donated to a temple in one of the provinces for the education of some orphaned children, and they raised quite a bit of money! Well done!

What is Pilates?

This exercise system developed by Joseph Pilates places a focus on "whole body health" and aims to improve strength, balance and flexibility through a variety of exercises, often done with special resistance equipment. Pilates is great for core strength and can help with problems related to posture and spinal alignment. Pilates is great for all ages and can be adapted to suit a variety of fitness levels.

The first Pilates Day in Thailand 3 years ago wass held with about 10 participants, this year there were over 60, and a great time was had by all. Plans are already underway for a bigger, brighter and better Pilates Day in 2018.
