5 tips to get you ready for a healthy summer..

in #health7 years ago (edited)
  1. Eat healthy and light :

Eat light, small, frequent meals. Heavy meals with large amounts of carbohydrates and fats give rise to a lot of heat in the body. Focus on fresh fruits and vegetables that have high water content - such as oranges, watermelon, tomatoes, etc. Consume leafy lettuce and summer greens to stay cool. Your body will require a constant supply of water and fluids to sustain through the rough weather. Eating whole foods helps balance your core body temperature and keeps diseases at bay. It also helps hydrate the skin and keep it supple. Avoid or cut back on fried, fatty foods to ease your stomach's workload.

  1. Drink plenty of water :

Heat and sweat in the summer months can leave your body dehydrated, causing unwanted health outcomes such as fever and chills. In fact, a lack of water is also harmful to your body and can make you crave food even when you’re not actually hungry. Keep yourself well hydrated by drinking at least eight to nine glasses of water per day. If you get bored with plain water, try adding some fruits like lemon, strawberry to your water to improve the taste.

  2. Gear up for summer :

The summer season can also bring a number of ailments such as common cold, sore throats, and viral infections, largely because of the heat and dust. While a preventive care approach is imperative, being prepared to face an unexpected disease is equally important. It is advisable to keep a cold balm as part of your first aid kit, as it eases the symptoms of common cold and is easy to carry around. Experts recommend using one that contains ingredients like camphor oil, mint extracts, nutmeg oil, and turpentine oil. These ingredients help provide quick, symptomatic relief from common cold.
