Handcrafted Deodorants for a good cause: The Aftermath

Recently we embarked on making Handcrafted Deodorant balm that truly WORKS (story HERE or we will refund)! There are no parabens, triclosan, phthalates, talc, glycol, coloring, alcohol, aluminium or chemicals added. None. Zero. Zilch.

No, we are not selling this in stores or bazaars. Because they are handcrafted, they are made in limited quantities and only if there are orders. If you would like us to make them for your personal usage or as a gift, leave us a note in advance.

Now why Deodorant you may wonder?

Why not? There were already too many soaps, lotions and lip balms. And some of you were probably shy to admit that BO (body odor actually comes from the armpits, where we perspire) is actually a big deal!

Imagine being stuck in an elevator or train with people with bad BO. Can you breathe? Some people will not say it to your face, but if they start taking out essential oil or ointments (minyak kapak!) from their bags, you will know it is usually to camouflage the lingering and gagging smell.

I recalled interviewing a young guy many years back in a small interview room where we usually close the door for privacy purpose. Few minutes into the interview, I had to excuse myself to leave the room to grab some coffee candy because I couldn’t focus in the interview room due to the smell.

When I returned, I left the door open a bit. He didn’t seem to feel anything unusual but I had to cut the interview short and thank him for his time.

So yes, your armpit smell is a big deal and because of this many multimillion dollar giant companies like P&G, Unilever spent so much money in producing deodorants. And yes, they can be super CHEAP if you buy off the rack from the stores.

But do you know what goes into these bottles? Most of these ingredients are known to cause cancer (or affect health in the long run as it accumulates) and imagine applying them on your armpits, where the skin is THINNER, pores are VISIBLE and where LYMPH NODES are, every day before you go out.

Breast cancer is a big deal for women. Hence I urge all women to double check what they buy before applying on their armpits. Because for everything health related, there will always a chance for anyone to get it.

Think that handmade skincare products are pricey? Handcrafted Deodorant pricey?

Well, is taking care of your health for the long run pricey? The ingredients used are organics and of highest quality, no preservatives or chemicals. Only substandard products that are mass produced would be cheaper.

But not for our handcrafted deodorant, we do not short change the efficacy.
