Food additives and flavor enhancers

Take a can or package of most types of “food” that you can buy in the supermarket, turn it around and read all the ingredients that are in this so-called food.

I recommend this to become a standard habit whenever you are in the supermarket. I say this, because chances are that you will find modern food additives such as Mono Sodium Glutamate (MSG), Guar gum-preservatives, Coloring agents, and E-numbers (if you live in Europe) within that food.

The above mentioned food enhancers will in my opinion wreak havoc on the body. There is no known reason to be eating these synthetic agents that have been added to the food and drinks that you might be consuming.

The only reason they are in your food is because producers want to be able to make their food taste better (MSG), last longer on the shelf (Guargum), or look more appetizing (coloring agents).

It all boils down to more profits for the food producers. They do not care about your health, only their wallet. “Taste is king” is an often heard phrase by a major fast food corporation. But the taste that junk food has is artificial. It is a trick that fools you into thinking that a burger just came off a charcoal grill.

On a side note, ironically, even people who are trying to do the planet a favour by not consuming meat or limiting their meat consumption, are getting a full dose of the chemical concoctions that has been made in a lab by food companies. Meat substitutes are laced with additives and taste enhancers in order to give the consumer a sensation of eating meat.

In conclusion, please watch out with all the additives you might inwittingly be consuming. Packaged food is full of it!
