Decided to start some Tincture’s for health
So instead of relaying on big pharma we prefer to heal naturally. With herbs, teas, extracts, and Tincture‘s.
If you have time and a few ingredients you too can make your Tincture. Ingredients are simple, vodka or any 80 proof or higher clear alcohol and dried herbs.
Today I decided to make comfrey and calendula which I will blend together for the healing properties
Place your dry herbs in a jar 3/4 or so full and cover with the alcohol. Now the waiting game starts. 30 days or so , every day shake the jars lightly to stir it up. Jar size is not relivent. We used the jelly jar this time.
So to recap this is what you need to make your vary own Tincture
Hope this helps every one live healthier
Natural is always the best! :)
I totally agree.
Have you noticed any difference between 30 days and "whatever". Time is the one thing many people tend to disagree on. Some say work by smell and the long it sits the stronger it smells, but I don't have a sense of smell, so can't do that.
I made my own tinctures years ago but have forgotten it all since the accident and need to relearn. I recently was gifted a jar of calendula cream to use on my legs (multiple vein surgeries from the accident). It is actually helping so I want some as strong as possible!
Also, by any chance to do your how long it would take to infuse oil in calendula? That is what I need to make my own cream.
Thanks for the post and sorry to be so nosey, lol.
No problem at all. I also infuse calendula in olive oil. I normally go with 30 days as a starting stage. The longer you leave it the stronger it can become. Most of the nutrients are extracted in the first 30 days. If you can add a little heat you can extract most of the nutrients in a few days.
For heat I means slow cooker with water in it covering half the jar, and set to low 24-48 hours if you need it faster.
I make a canedula and comfrey salve that we sell. It works great used it on many things, burns dry skin, minor cuts and scrapes. Healing property’s are amazing.
Hope I helped if not feel free to ask any thing I missed.
Thank you for the info! I will purchase calendula on my next herb order and try making some. I have a crock pot I can use to speed up the process.
