Two years ago,I fell so ill. I was so febrile that my body temperature could burn a bed linen,my appetite was no where to be found,not in kitchen or the even in the oza room.I felt so terrible. I had several episodes of vomiting,l grew lean within a few hours; one would think i took an overdose of slim tea.My head was also banging like Joseph,the carpenter was in my head. Ejigbijigbi!
After different styles of tepid sponging by a kind fellow,Adereti Adetola Priscilla ,my body temperature crashed down to a friendzone. I felt better. By evening,the fever came up again.This time,there was no way I could escape being pricked. Operation prick the prickler! OPP.My friends got Chloroquine injection for me.
It was time for injection negotiation. It took me about 15 minutes and 7 nurses .You would think i was undergoing an electro-convulsive therapy. Finally,I was on a prone position,doing a Pre-medication cry,i was reciting verses of psalm and lamentation together.It was not just funny.The sharp needle went 90° into my gluteal muscle, 'Ayelale!' I screamed in my dialect.Immediately the needle came out,the seven forces left me.I felt the pain which lasted for a few minutes. The symptoms subsided after an hour.Two hours later I started feeling an irritating thing on my body. It was Puritus (Itching)..I almost scratched off my epidermis layer.I have heard people talk about chloroquine side effects,i never knew it was as bad as that. Omo na mental case o! I felt the itching all over my body,it turned to a reflex action. I was dancing shakiti bobo to Adele songs.This lasted for 48hours, despite that i took an anti-histamine drug..My roomie and others shared good testimonies of chloroquine but ori Taye yato si ti kehinde!
It was then that I made up my mind to stay away from anything that contains Quinine.I also solemnly pledge myself to stay away from anybody bearing '’Queen'’ .I had to hang up on Queen Elizabeth when she called me few days after the incident. It's not that I am arrogant,i just don't want trouble for myself. Once dem beat me,two times i shame! .... I just hope she understands.
