The Treeman Syndrome

Epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV) also known as Treeman syndrome is an extremely rare skin disorder associated with high risk of skin cancer.
Only 7 cases have been recorded world wide.

Dysplasia is a condition whereby a tissue or an organ undergoes abnormal growth or development. In this case, the epidermis hence, the name "epidermodysplasia".

The Treeman Syndrome is characterized with an abnormal susceptibility of the body to Human Papillomaviruses (HPV) infections which results in the growth of macules and papules especially on the hands and feet. The body experiences the development of lesions all over which can progress into long bark-like tumors.

One of the very few that have this disorder is Abul Bajandar, a 28 years old from Bangladesh. Here's a picture of his hands and feet.

The treeman syndrome is a life-long disorder as there's no cure. However, there are several treatment method in place.

  • Medications
  • constant Surgical procedures

Since treatment does not give permanent solution, victims should always be under medical supervision.
