Diabetics are advised to consume foods that have a low glycemic index. White rice (including rice from Bulog rice) is one of the foods that have a high glycemic index so it is not too good for diabetics to consume. Diabetics are advised to replace white rice with other carbohydrates that have a lower glycemic index such as brown rice, brown rice, or basmati rice, whose glycemic index is moderate, or oatmeal (not instant), whole wheat, whole wheat pasta, the glycemic index is low.

Diabetics are also advised to consume more fibrous foods, such as vegetables and fruits. Fruit selection should also be done wisely. Examples of fruits with a low glycemic index that are good for diabetics include apples, pears, oranges, peaches, plums, strawberries. Meanwhile, fruits that have a high glycemic index need to be limited by diabetics, such as bananas, pineapples, watermelons, melons, papaya, etc.
