Writing to heal the soul
If I am asked to be honest, I am a sea of emotions, once I told a friend in the middle of a few drinks, that if life had not taught me to cry, today I would have my soul trapped.
Well, thanks to the exhaustion of tears, and the courage to go to therapy after a relationship that left me on the floor, I learned a delicious way to release my soul, although my glasses are also fogged in the process: Writing.
Writing has become for me a kind of ritual, it was what brought me here in the first place. Maybe many come here because in this network you can make some money, I came because I feel that I have something to tell and a lot to read, because these simple letters can make us feel in company.
Because a couple of lines can make sense of everything. Believe me, just like you sometimes I do not have the courage to say things, to ask for help, to let go what chokes me. That's why I write.
Understanding.
By taking note of what we think, what we feel, we better identify our emotions, the root of a conflict, what we truly crave. Between letters we can leave the wound exposed, without hurting ourselves or hurting others. It can be a totally private exercise. Or you can really establish a dialogue with who you need it.
"The American psychologist James Pennebaker, a professor at the University of Texas, has made a deep and exhaustive study about therapeutic writing. According to him, this simple exercise is a perfect key to open that complex inner world that we all have "- The Mind is Wonderful.
Action.
I live in a country where writing is an exorcism to my daily fears, to write is to cling to life, to my opinions, to the imaginary. In my country, Venezuela, there are people who are in jail just for what they wrote. By saying what others do not dare to say, by writing in bold and uppercase the injustices.
In this country, writing can save the life of a person who needs it in the midst of the humanitarian crisis. We can ask for help, we can provide it. When I write I can denounce, I can go around the world and say: Do not forget about us. We are still here trying to recover freedom.
Writing can be a mission, more difficult to achieve each day. But for those who feel locked up, there is nothing more powerful and liberating than having a piece of paper and pencil at hand.
The book "Prisoner, but Free", which summarizes the notes of political prisoner Leopoldo López during his days in the Ramo Verde prison is an example. Writing (secretly, in small rolls of paper, hidden in chewing gum) became a form of resilience, resistance, daily and protest from his cell.
When writing, we can shape any idea, a project that step by step guides us to the goal. It takes us from a simple dream. To get something more palpable, to be effective, set dates.
Healing
According to the studies of Rosana Pereira, of the School of Psychologists of Madrid, writing is "a step-by-step procedure that favors the order of ideas and helps to become aware of what is being thought at that moment". Everything focuses on introspection.
People who write retake the feeling of control, power over emotions and how you want to externalize them. With small notes we become more aware of who and how we are, elevates us to evolution.
Doctors have commented that cancer patients who relieve themselves in a diary, have experienced better response during their treatments and better recovery and healing time.
Writing reinforces not only our self-esteem, but also our immune system, by providing happiness and tranquility, leaving aside stress and anxiety.
Today has been a very hard day, in my city now we only have a few hours of Internet connection and electricity, but to think for a moment that you read me, has given me one more reason not to be silent
