Hackers Congress in Parallel Polis

Few weeks ago in the Institute of Cryptoanarchy in Czech Republic a Hackers Congress has been held. A significant amount of interesting presentations has happened and I will be reporting the most interesting ones in the near future. And the very first one is at the same time probably the most controversial one for all the liberty-minded people that I believe gather around Steem. This system would not overthrow just one government… it would overthrow ALL of them.

Assassination Politics

22 years ago an essay has been written. It was rather controversially named Assassination Politics. The idea was fairly simple. Instead of “democratic way” where 51% of people can decide which Politian will sit in the office yet again, much smaller group of people could decide which politician will never ever sit again in the office.

This would be made possible by a seemingly unethical betting system. The AP organization would be receiving bets (or donations) with names and dates, when certain politician would die. Whoever would guess the right date would receive all the donations that have been made connected to that one name.

Isn’t this violation of Non-Aggression Policy?

According to Jim Bell (who sees himself as libertarian) it isn’t. The bets would be accepted only against government politicians. From his point of view a person who is working for government is accepting a pay-check of money stolen by the government. Anyone who is doing that is violating the NAP in the first place. It also is unlikely that bets against for example teachers (they are basically doing the very same thing right) would happen. It will probably be against those who really deserve it. The point of AP is also not to KILL the people, but to use fear against the “evil politicians” and force them to permanently resign from the offices.

HCPP17 suggestions

Jim Bell wanted to use donations in BTC and Dollars. One is semi anonymous and one is non-anonymous at all, which is not really desired in such a project. Monero and other anonymous currencies should be used instead. Also a suggestion appeared that maybe it would be better not to have an AP organization, but rather AP Blockchain, thus keeping it decentralized – maybe even throw an ICO lol.

What do you think about the AP? What could its consequences be? Would it change the world we are used to for good? Would you be against such a system? Let me know what you think guys!
