Saint Francis School in Manoa to Close

Saint Francis School in Manoa was founded in 1924 will close at the end of the academic year. The school is run, and funded by, the Sisters of Saint Francis of the Neumann Communities, of Syracuse, New York. We have had many friends, and relatives, that went to Saint Francis. The Catholic School started as an all girls school, but went co-ed in 2006. The enrollment in the school is only 442 and has been lagging.

The costs of private school education is very high. The most expensive private school in Hawaii is Hawaii Preparatory . Academy at $53,000 a year. St . Francis ranks as the 18th at $12,400 per year.

The campus is located on 11 acres in Manoa Valley which is some of the most expensive real estate in the State.

We are guessing that they are planning a redevelopment of the campus due to the value of the land, but we have no evidence to back this up.
