Pacific Tsunami Warning Center Investigates Fake Earthquake Message

in #hawaii5 years ago

ger-tsunamis-hazardzone_orig.pngYesterday a fake message about a 8.0 earthquake in Japan and subsequent Tsunami was circulated throughout the community. The message was obviously fake as there were a number of misspellings.

Officials were quick to point out that the notifications was fake.

This, however, points out a problem with the notification systems and how they are susceptible to cyber attacks.

This is all an attempt to discredit the systems that protect the citizens of Hawaii.
