House Bill 185 says: “prohibits drivers of vehicles in a county with a population greater than 500,000 from making any turns while a traffic control device facing oncoming traffic displays a red signal.”

In Hawaii you can make a right turn on red after a stop. Hawaii is ranked near the top in the United States for not only the worst traffic, but also the most dangerous place for pedestrians.

This new law is being proposed by the Mayor of Honolulu Kirk Caldwell. We think this is going to be horrible for traffic in Honolulu. The City has already made traffic worse by taking away one lane (left lane) on a major street for bike lanes slow down the traffic during rush hour. Now they are going to slow down the right lane, and this is going to be horrible. It is not going to be good for residents, and visitors.
