from imagination. I have always loved to relax on the shores of the Ob Sea. The coniferous aroma of the Karakansky pine forest, the coarse sand of the Horde coast and the warm water of the Boomerang beach perfectly cleanse the brain from urban problems. However, the reservoir was created not for the entertainment of the local population, but for the construction of a hydroelectric power station. Indeed, without a hydroelectric power station and a reservoir, Novosibirsk would not have been able to maintain record growth rates, an extensive system of electric transport would not have appeared in the city, and even a metro would not have been built. Few people know this story, but if it weren't for the Novosibirsk hydroelectric power station, there wouldn't be the world-famous Akademgorodok. Initially, Novosibirsk was not even considered among the possible places for creating a scientific center in Siberia. A landing party of scientists led by Mikhail Lavrentiev visited Irkutsk, Omsk, Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk. But everywhere the housing problem was acute, and in Novosibirsk the construction of a hydroelectric power station was just being completed, these labor resources and construction equipment were simply overtaken for the construction of Akademgorodok.
