The Musical Ride of Royal Canadian Mounted Police
One summer I won an online contest for free tickets, to see The Musical Ride Tour of the RCMP.
We had never been to this kind of tour or performance by RCMP before, it was more common to see police officers in cars instead RCMP officers on horses back in Montreal, so we were pretty excited to check it out.
As you will see on the pictures I will be posting on this blog, their uniform is also special and different compare to the black/blue police uniforms you'd normally see.
This blog will be my contribution for haturday (as well), as many people and the officers worn hats that day 😁, including my husband and my oldest.
As you may have guessed from the title - of musical ride, it is a spectacle where the RCMP officers would march on their horses, performing some kind of choreographed movements, with musical background, like a dance.
Must have taken awhile to teach those horses to do those movements in unison - it's pretty amazing. Realizing it's done by police officers, I am positive none of those horses were harmed while being 'schooled' unlike at circus or animal performances, I so hope so.
The horses were beautiful, looking so mighty strong and healthy, and on their bodies, some of them had maple leaf printed on the hair, pretty cool to see (it's not actually printed, I asked how they did that and one of the officers said it's by brushing the hair with a trick).
Should you like to catch one of their tours, it's usually between May to October as they go to many places throughout the country. Please click here, to check their schedule.
As I mentioned haturday on the beginning of my blog, it's a fun sharing day started by @saffisara, of anyone, animals including, with a hat on, get it? Hat-urday 😂
That would be a neat event to see.
They've been performing twice so far (in the town where I live). Wish it was an annual event, but I guess since they are performing throughout Canada, it's not easy to have it annually 😊
This is a wonderful haturday post! I can only imagine the show they put on with the horses. Love it. :)
Hey! Did you ever go (when you lived in Canada)? It was pretty good, dusty but good 😊
Haven't been, no. And I'm still in BC. ;-) IF I ever get a chance I'll take it, though. I'm sure there was some stellar horsemanship.
Say whaaaat....??! I thought you were in the USA???? We should try to do a meet up someday 😁
Born in the States. Migrated to BC. You just had it backwards, no biggie. Easy to mix up. :)
