Hey everyone!! It's HATURDAY! A fun tag started by the sweet and lovely @saffisara! This picture was taken about a year ago and I used it for my Facebook profile pic for a while. I never saw the movie, but thought the hat made me look tough. It's my husband's lol.FB_IMG_1522357506683.jpg

A few random thoughts:

Why did everyone think mythology was a horrible subject in high school? I loved learning about all the Greek gods!

I'm just now watching my son and paying attention to him playing Minecraft. This game is amazing!!

Gun free zones...as if putting up a sign that says "no wolves aloud" amongst a herd of sheep would really work...

I think downvoting should take up 3 times more SP than upvoting, that way, if one was to downvote, it really better be worth it! What do you think?

    A few random answers to your random thoughts(I hope you wont´t mind, if you do just throw me a hat or something):

    Why did everyone think mythology was a horrible subject in high school? I loved learning about all the Greek gods!

    • Because they get graded for it. Also, I think they had the wrong approach, they should have made it a video game and kids would have loved it.

    I'm just now watching my son and paying attention to him playing Minecraft. This game is amazing!!

    • Indeed. Young generations of little people are "spawning" more and more intelligent because of these games that make em solve all kinds of problems at an early age. However they suffer from poor memory and short attention span due to heavy multitasking. That´s not minecraft´s fault btw, its the smartphone´s.

    • It wont work, sorry. Originally schools were gun free zones, that´s what the metal detectors were for. You´re looking at the problem from the wrong angle: don´t fix your guns, fix your culture. Australians have as many guns per capita as americans and only 1/16th of mass shootings.

    • Actually, that´s the best suggestion I heard the whole week! Too bad I´m not a witness. Do u know one? I know that some people fear that there would be no way to balance out spammers, but spammers don´t have that much voting power, and if they ever do, we could hardfork back to the way it was. It would be a temporary solution to the flag wars...

    Also loved this subject. But not just the Greek Gods, across the board it was fun stuff. Also interesting how many of the ancient civilizations had similar gods, but with different names.

    I'm just now watching my son and paying attention to him playing Minecraft. This game is amazing!!

    Any game that can'e be won just doesn't interest me. But the kids did spend hours playing this before getting bored of it.

    It's as effective as thinking banning guns from honest law abiding citizens will keep guns out of the hands of criminals. Just look at Chicago's crime stats if you need an example of how well that works.

    Not a chance. There would be no way to balance out spammers then. The amount of power needed would become impossible.

    As it is you are giving up more than your voting power for downvoting. Besides the lost power you also can't gain any rewards on that vote which you would have gained by upvoting.

    Minecraft doesn't have any point in which you win, but it's kind of like a life survival game: you have to eat, make your home, garden, hunt, mine, craft items. It's just cool imo and I can see why kids like it! :)

    I can see your point. I think many downvotes are unnecessary, like the @youarehope post that @grumpycat downvoted. Maybe I'm not very effective against spammers, but I've never downvoted or flagged and I think Steemit would be a more peaceful place if people weren't so trigger happy to do so.

    Problem is scammers and spammers are all over. They need to be downvoted or else this place will look like a big marketing platform for scams everywhere. It costs nothing to comment and bots can even do the work so the flag can at least hide the crap from view. I think I have used my flag 10 times since being here and all needed to be flagged. If it cost me 3x more I may have considered leaving some of the spammers to have their rewards...but then they would keep coming back to get more rewards.

    A bot does cost money to run so by removing rewards from spammers and scammers (phishing links as an example) you at least reduce the likelyhood they will keep doing the same bad behavior.
