The Hash House Harriers museum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
It was recently pointed out to me that someone has set up a HHH museum featuring thousands of commemorative shirts in his place in Kuala Lumpur, which is the birthplace of the Hash House Harriers nearly 100 years ago. They weren't making shirts that entire time but later times and in particular during recent times, there have been so many commemorative shirts and other memorabilia that someone has decided to catalogue all of them on a floor of his house.
This isn't going to appeal to everyone and I would imagine that there isn't a lot of street traffic that comes in to admire this extensive collection of HHH memorabilia but to me and other Hashers, this is an amazing collection.
In the collection there are shirts and other gear from nearly every major Hash that ever existed on the planet and there are even a few shirts from Antarctica, which obviously doesn't host a great many events. There are also shirts going back all the way to the 50's and 60's that someone, somewhere, decided to preserve and donate to the museum. I went through all of my shirts to see if they needed them only to discover that they already had each of the shirts that I own in stock.
Well, you can't say I didn't try.
The shirts are not for sale and are there merely for people to look at and take pictures of if they want. I think the way that he "keeps the lights on" is by having a bar that is very popular with both local Hashers and Hashers that are visiting from around the world.
Some of them are more rare than others and he has them meticulously arranged by continent and region.
I expected to enjoy myself when I was visiting but it was truly amazing to me to see the collection that has been gathered all throughout the years. It's quite the collection for any Hasher to witness with their own eyes.
On On!
